Dental braces are appliances which are used to align and straighten the teeth and to correct jaws discrepancy to improve chewing and smile aesthetics.

Metal Braces

Metal braces are the most common type of braces. In the past, braces were very bulky and noticeable. Luckily, braces today are smaller, faster, more comfortable and more effective.

Ceramic Braces

Ceramic braces are braces made of clear, tooth colored material. They work in the same way as metal braces but are more discreet and less visible. Compared to metal braces, ceramic braces are less noticeable and present an affordable alternative to metal braces. 

Life With Braces

Soreness

It’s normal to experience soreness or tenderness for a few days after you start orthodontics treatment and after each adjustment. To decrease the discomfort, we recommend an over-the-counter pain killer and soft foods for a few days.

Eating with Braces

During the treatment patients should avoid sticky foods, hard candies, nuts, chewing on non-food items like pens. Hard foods can sometimes break or damage the brackets and wires of your braces.

Emergencies

During orthodontics treatment it’s not uncommon for a bracket or wire to loosen, If the wire protrudes and is irritating the lips or mouth, place wax on the wire to reduce the annoyance and call our office as soon as possible for an appointment to check and repair the appliances. 

Sport

You can play sports and wear braces simultaneously. However some physical activities present potential risks to your teeth, especially with braces on. wearing a mouth guard when participating in any physical activity is recommended to protect your teeth.
